Intentional Devotion

For those who don’t know, this year in January, God birthed something inside me called called Draw Me Nearer Ministry. Its mission is to help people cultivate intimate relationships with Christ by facilitating week-long spiritual experiences that include fasts from media, intense Bible study, prayer calls, personal prayer and keeping a journal. I’m happy to announce that on April 28th, Draw Me Nearer will host its spring spiritual experience.

While it’s still in the planning phases, we’ve been working to create the prayer team and I sent an e-mail to my friend David to see if he’d be interested in participating. His reaction and reply to the e-mail is a devotional in itself. This post is in essence, the exact reason that God gave me this ministry. He knows that sometimes we need to get away from all the noise in our lives and re-connect with Him. If you don’t do anything else today, PLEASE read this blog post. I pray that God uses it to stir something inside of you.

  1. as i read the goal was to help people cultivate a relationship with Christ n point them in the right direction, it reminded me of my husband and i fasting last year for direction. God told us to move from atl to hsv and when we did, my husband then had to commute to keep his job. long story short: we asked for direction re: what to do job-wise n financially, and God’s reply was that we need to give more. we were like, say what? more? from where? we’re in a financial bind as. it. is! another long story, shortened: empowered by His Spirit, we obeyed, and we’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness as He opened up the windows of heaven and poured out blessings we’ve not had room enough to receive. my husband ended up with several jobs, and time to do each (a few were part-time teaching jobs) to the point that he had to turn down a job offer because he’d be too busy serving with his other commitments (not room enough to receive). God will do it!

    1. Dee,

I love the faithfulness of God. When I think about the fact that Matt 6:33 simply says “seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you…” I’m always blown away. It’s really that simple. Serve Him first, obey Him first, place Him first, seek Him first and everything that you ever need will be given including guidance, direction, passion, provision, etc. He’s so amazing. And I’m so excited about what God is going to do through the next Draw Me Nearer. I already know people will be so blessed by it! As always, thanks for commenting!
