I hope that you are well today on this fine Monday afternoon. I just got home from women’s Bible study and I’m feeling awesome. As you know, I’m passionate about helping those around me. Whether it’s supporting a friend’s project, praying for others or even helping people learn about God, I love to be a blessing. In this post, I’m going to tell you about a friend of mine and how God has opened the door for me to be a blessing in her life and how you can to.
I met Amber K. Boyd in November of 2010 at a mutual friend’s home after church. I was new to Atlanta and she was one of the first people I was introduced to. Although I had never met her before that day, it didn’t take me long to be inspired by her and to realize that Amber was special. She’s the type of person who lights up a room with her personality, can make you see things in a different light and and who chases after God with diligence. Amber is a leader. She is a trailblazer among her peers and lives to make God famous. Not only this, but she has a passion for the underserved. After having countless conversations with her about education, poverty, investing in women, the brain, teaching, Jesus and everything in between, I can confidently say that she’s the type of person who will change the world if given the opportunity.
What’s amazing about this is, for the past year, Amber has been on a personal journey of faith in God while seeking her purpose. I won’t tell all the details of her story because you can read them here, but instead of settling for mere existence by doing a job that just pays the bills, she decided to leave it all and seek God until he showed her what He had for her. And boy, did He answer. A few months ago, Amber was accepted into Harvard University to study educational neuroscience. This is an amazing honor! However, Harvard is expensive and well, she can’t afford to get there on her own. But, she already knows that God has got the logistics taken care of because, after all, this is a journey of faith isn’t it?
From now until August 1st, a few friends of ours and myself are putting our all into raising funds for Amber to get to Harvard. Not just because she’s our friend, but because we know that God has a job for her to do, we believe that she’ll do great things in the future and because we want to support her in fulfilling her destiny!
